Frequently Asked Questions

What is Gateway 2040?

Gateway 2040 is an infrastructure vision centered on pedestrian connectivity, a transformed streetscape, and a more intentional public realm at the intersection of International Drive and Sand Lake Road, one of Orlando's most active visitor corridors.

Gateway 2040 is located at the intersection of International Drive and Sand Lake Road in Orlando, Florida, a highly visible intersection at the center of Orlando's visitor economy.

Gateway 2040 centers on two connected elements at the intersection: a pedestrian bridge, and a new streetscape with wider sidewalks, landscaping, decorative walls, fountains, and public art at all four corners of International Drive and Sand Lake Road.

A traffic study documented 661 crashes at the intersection between 2017 and 2022, including 13 involving pedestrians or cyclists, and the corridor sees an estimated 1,400 daily pedestrians. The redesign is meant to improve safety and walkability at one of Orlando's busiest visitor intersections.

Yes. Gateway 2040 has been presented to international audiences, including at the International Property Show 2026 in Dubai, as reported by Gulf News and Khaleej Times, as an Orlando infrastructure project structured around the EB-5 investment pathway, which can offer qualifying investors and their families a route to U.S. permanent residency.

Gateway 2040 is being advanced by Gateway 2040 LLC, with support from Orange County officials including Mayor Jerry Demings. Joshua T. Wallack has publicly represented the project, including in press coverage of its presentation to international investors in Dubai.
